Nick Zangwill tart előadást  "Methodology in the Theory of Art: Conceptual Analysis Vs. Rational Explanation" címmel, a Filozófia Intézet a Filozófia Intézet Colloquium Philosophicum című előadás-sorozatának keretén belül, 2025. márc. 12. szerdán 18h-kor a Múzeum krt. 4/i. épület 113-as teremben. Methodology in the Theory of Art:
Conceptual Analysis Vs. Rational Explanation

The goals of a theory of art are considered. Conceptual analysis as a methodology is contested and the role of intuitions about cases of art is rejected. Rational explanatory approaches are defended. The objection that art activities require that agents possess the concept of art is addressed, and it is argued that this does not derail a rational explanatory approach. The role of evaluation in rational explanations of art is explored. Lastly, the role of non-rational explanations is considered.
